AISD remains committed to ongoing, tailored professional learning experiences for employees. To enhance the significance of personalized professional learning, Austin ISD has designated two (2) Professional Learning Exchange Days (PLED) for campus-based exempt professional staff. These PLED days enable the exchange of two (non-duty days dedicated to professional learning that focus on enhancing skills related to the district's focus areas, for two regular duty days. The 2023-2024 academic year priorities align to the District strategic plan and values, and focus on the following:
- Academic Excellence
- Special Education
- Multilingual Education
- Cultural Responsiveness
Accumulating twelve (12) credits from any combination of these focus areas is acceptable.
Professional Learning Exchange Days offer mutual benefits to exempt staff and the district by:
- Providing individual and campus empowerment and flexibility in professional learning.
- Concentrating professional development efforts on district initiatives and priorities.
- Encouraging diverse forms and structures for professional learning.
- Enhancing access to professional development while minimizing teacher absences from instruction and substitute costs.
