The Austin Ed Fund awarded more than $517,000 in grants as part of its annual Inspire the Future grant program, funding 80 innovative, teacher-led projects across the district
Why it matters: The grant provides an opportunity for Austin ISD educators to build educator-led, collaborative projects that focus on strategies to bolster learning opportunities in schools.
For the 12 campuses with three unacceptable counts, we will work with the communities to create turnaround plans and discuss the following options:
For the 21 campuses that have one or two Unacceptable counts and the one campus that requires a Turnaround Plan due to federal accountability, the district will use the School Improvement strategies to improve school performance. The Austin ISD School Improvement Initiative is a targeted approach to transforming schools to increase student outcomes. Using the Effective Schools Framework, district leaders will work with campuses using the five levers of the framework to create tailored plans to support students.
Three middle school campuses—Burnet, Dobie and Webb—will receive the most intensive support and will go through district-managed restarts for the 2025-26 school year.
At Austin ISD, we are committed to making every school a place where all students can thrive. Recent TEA accountability ratings show a mixed picture: while we are celebrating significant gains at many schools, some are facing serious challenges.
To address this, we are required by the Texas Education Agency to create and implement comprehensive Turnaround and Targeted Improvement Plans (TAPs and TIPs). This is a necessary process to ensure our schools meet state standards while also preserving and strengthening what makes us Austin ISD—our vibrant, loving, and innovative school communities.
This work is demanding and urgent, but we are confident we can do it together. Our community's deep love for our public schools is one of our greatest strengths. We believe that by working in partnership with our families, students, and educators, we can have the tough conversations, find innovative solutions and achieve accelerated growth across our district.
We will focus on getting these plans right, with a clear focus on student success.
En el Austin ISD, estamos comprometidos con hacer de cada escuela un lugar donde todos los estudiantes pueden prosperar. Las recientes clasificaciones de responsabilidad de la TEA muestran una imagen confusa: por un lado, estamos celebrando una ganancia significativa en muchas escuelas, por otro lado, estamos enfrentando serios retos.
Para abordar esto, la Agencia de Educación de Texas nos requiere crear e implementar Planes de Transformación y Mejoras Específicas (TAP y TIP, por sus siglas en inglés) comprehensivos.
