Barrington Elementary School

Current Status

In November 2025, the Austin ISD Board of Trustees voted to close Barrington Elementary School as part of the district's school consolidation plan. The campus is currently serving as a swing campus while the modernized Wooldridge Elementary School is constructed as part of the 2022 Bond Program. The Barrington property, including the former school building, playground, and adjacent play field, is now fully owned by Austin ISD.

Austin ISD is now beginning the property evaluation process to allow time for technical studies, community engagement, and thoughtful planning for the future of the property once it is no longer needed as a swing campus.

No decisions have been made regarding the future use of the property. Community input gathered throughout this process will help inform future recommendations to the Austin ISD Board of Trustees.

Additional information, including community feedback, evaluation reports, and meeting materials, will be added to this page as the property evaluation process progresses.
