Austin ISD's Grounds Maintenance team provides year-round care to keep school grounds safe, functional, and welcoming for students, staff, and the community. Maintaining more than 130 properties is a continual effort that requires expertise, dedication, and hard work in every season. Whether mowing landscapes, maintaining playgrounds, repairing irrigation systems, caring for our trees, or responding to service requests, the team takes pride in creating outdoor spaces that support teaching, learning, and play.

- Engineered Wood Fiber mulch
- Elementary school track maintenance (all other tracks: see Athletic requests, below)
- Outdoor basketball backboards, rim, net replacement
🛠️ Small Engine & Equipment Repairs
- High school security golf carts.
- Labor to repair agriculture equipment for Akins, Bowie, and Navarro High Schools. The school or agriculture program must purchase the parts.

Requesting Grounds Maintenance
Grounds Maintenance. Please submit a work order in Asset Essentials under the category “Exterior & Grounds” or call the AISD Help Desk at (512) 414-2199.
- Preparation. When the Grounds team is scheduled to mow your campus, please ask custodial staff to pick up any trash and garden teams to move any hoses or other items out of the way that the riding lawnmowers may not see.
- Events: Advance notice is required for mowing. If you are requesting off-schedule mowing in advance of a school event, please submit your work order at least 2 weeks in advance so our team can plan accordingly. This buffer is critical for our team to adjust route schedules and allocate staff. Weather and special event requests can impact grounds maintenance schedules and cause delays in routine service.
- Athletics. For maintenance on athletic fields, middle and high school tracks, athletic facility irrigation, or athletic equipment, please submit a work order in Asset Essentials to the category “Athletics.”
- Trees & Urban Forest. For tree-related requests, submit a work order in Asset Essentials to the category “Exterior & Grounds” and select your topic. Please provide photos of the requested work and clear maps or information for the tree location(s). This will be routed to the AISD Urban Forester.
