The T.A. Brown Elementary School campus was closed by Austin ISD on Nov. 4 after a facility assessment discovered structural deficiencies in the supports under the building. The majority of T.A. Brown’s students—all of our first- through fifth-graders—were welcomed to the Allan Center in East Austin. Pre-K and kindergarten students now call Reilly Elementary School their home.

Because the building has been deemed unsafe, students will remain at their new campuses for the rest of the 2016–17 school year. The Brown Elementary School principal, assistant principal, counselor and parent support specialist now rotate between Reilly and Allan and will continue to do so through June.

AISD has been advised by its engineering consultants not to renovate or save the existing structure at Brown. District leadership will work with community members to develop a plan for Brown’s students during the 2017–18 school year and beyond as part of its Facility Master Plan process. Details about transportation, lunch, after-school activities and more are available online at both the Brown and Reilly campus pages. Visit the Reilly Elementary School page here.

T.A. Brown Elementary School serves about 400 students in Pre-K through fifth grade. We truly believe our motto, "T.A. Brown—the best school in town—is college bound!" The school focuses on literacy, and we are proud to offer exemplary fine arts opportunities. Brown Elementary is part of the Lanier High School family of schools.
