Transfer Information

Where Do You Want to Go?

Thank you for your interest in Austin ISD! We know you have options, and we love that you've chosen us. We want to work with every family and student to tailor your child's education. That's why we're proud to offer transfers to any open school within the district.

If you're already part of the AISD family or new to the district, you can submit your transfer requests for the 2022–23 school year starting January 4, 2022. We begin accepting out-of-district transfer requests Feb. 1.

Please note: Two schools are frozen to transfers for the 2022–23 school year: Bowie High School and Lamar Middle School. To learn more, visit www.austinisd.org/transfer/faqs.

The easiest way to submit your transfer request is to apply through the Austin ISD Portal. The application is called Online Student Transfer Request.

  • Students new to Austin ISD need to complete online registration (also in the AISD Portal) before submitting their transfer request.

For in-person service or to submit your request non-electronically:

  1. Mail transfer requests and required documents to:
    Office of Student Services
    Austin ISD Headquarters
    4000 S. IH-35 Frontage Road, Room 151
    Austin, TX 78704.
  2. Email transfer requests and required documents to: AISDtransfers@austinisd.org
  3. Meet us curbside! Student Services provides curbside service during business hours. A staff member will provide the form for you and will copy the necessary documents.
  1. Parent/guardian photo ID
  2. Proof of address, e.g., current gas or electricity bill, lease or mortgage statement
  3. Birth certificate (for students new to the district)

To submit your documents non-electronically, you'll also need to download the transfer application form:

We want to be sure we give every request the individualized attention each student deserves, so all transfers submitted in January will be processed and finalized by March 11, 2022.
