Transfer Information

Where Do You Want to Go?

Thank you for your interest in Austin ISD! We know you have options, and we love that you've chosen us. We want to work with every family and student to tailor your child's education. That's why we're proud to offer transfers to any open school within the district.

If you're already part of the AISD family or new to the district, you can submit your transfer requests for the 2022–23 school year starting January 4, 2022. We begin accepting out-of-district transfer requests Feb. 1.

Please note: Two schools are frozen to transfers for the 2022–23 school year: Bowie High School and Lamar Middle School. To learn more, visit

The easiest way to submit your transfer request is to apply through the Austin ISD Portal. The application is called Online Student Transfer Request.

  • Students new to Austin ISD need to complete online registration (also in the AISD Portal) before submitting their transfer request.
