Caring for our Facilities
Maintaining a large portfolio of schools and support facilities requires both ongoing maintenance and regular assessments. While maintenance helps keep a building operating safely and efficiently each day, assessments provide valuable information about the condition, functionality, accessibility, and performance of district facilities over time.
Together, these efforts help Austin ISD better understand its facilities, address current needs, and support informed, long-term stewardship of district assets.
Facilities Maintenance
Facilities Maintenance is the ongoing work of caring for and preserving Austin ISD’s schools, support facilities, and building systems. Through routine inspections, preventative maintenance, repairs, and system upkeep, maintenance teams help keep campuses safe, functional, and ready to support teaching and learning.
Regular maintenance helps extend the life of district facilities, improve the reliability of building systems, and address issues before they become more significant. Together with facility assessments, data from routine work orders and maintenance logs offers key insights that support responsible stewardship of district assets and informed long-term planning.
