News about masks and vaccine prioritization / Noticias sobre los cubrebocas y la priorización de las vacunas

Dear Austin ISD families and staff,

We wanted to follow-up with you regarding the Texas Education Agency’s announcement today that school districts can continue enforcing mask mandates.

We appreciate TEA’s guidance and AISD will continue with its current practice of following guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the American Academy of Pediatrics and Austin Public Health. AISD’s guidelines include wearing masks at schools, district events and when on all district properties, social distancing when possible and washing hands frequently.

Continued Use of Masks at AISD / Continuamos con el uso de cubrebocas en el AISD

As you may be aware, this afternoon Governor Greg Abbott announced an order to lift the statewide mask mandate. We want to let you know that Austin ISD will continue to require all students, staff, and visitors to wear masks on district property and at district events. Our decisions have been and will continue to be based on guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Academy of Pediatrics. We appreciate everyone's efforts to keep safe by wearing masks, maintaining social distancing when possible, and washing hands frequently.
