Austin ISD Celebrates Parent Support Specialist Week

This week, Austin ISD is honoring our Parent Support Specialists with Parent Support Specialist Appreciation Week, praising the day in and day out, important work in serving our students, families, and school communities.

A Parent Support Specialist's responsibilities are diverse and far-reaching, and the impact on our students and their families is immeasurable. On any given day, a Parent Support Specialist might coordinate resources for a homeless student, counsel a family, or work with a teacher to address a student’s and their family’s needs.

Austin ISD Works With Partners To Find Vaccine Opportunities for Staff

Austin ISD staff have never been so happy to have a sore arm. This week AISD partnered with vaccine distributors and community partners to provide thousands of COVID-19 vaccines to staff across the district.

Staff were notified of two opportunities to receive the vaccine: one at Circuit of the Americas via CommUnityCare and another at AISD Central Office via Code 4 Emergency Services.

The opportunities were open to all staff. Austin ISD is not a vaccine provider, but does work with providers to alert staff to potential opportunities.

Austin ISD Works with Community Health Providers to Get Staff Vaccinated for COVID-19

Austin ISD continues to work with community partners to provide opportunities for district staff to be vaccinated since the announcement on March 3 by the federal and state governments to prioritize educators.

The district is working with partner organizations to alert our teachers and staff about possible vaccine appointments. Some of those organizations include Ascension Seton, CommUnityCare, Code 4 and Austin Public Health.

Alexandra Copeland, Director of Health Services said this is a great step in keeping our schools safe.
