Overview
Houston Elementary School, located in southeast Austin, serves students in Pre-K through fifth grade, including tuition-supported Pre-K for qualified families. The school was named for Josephine Houston, an innovative early educator whose career in Austin schools spanned 46 years. Committed staff and involved families work together to support the academic, social and emotional needs of all students. The school is part of the Creative Learning Initiative, and fine arts are incorporated throughout the curriculum. Houston offers a variety of after-school programs, and local daycare programs provide transportation from the school for students attending after-school programs.
