Overview
Graham Elementary School in East Austin is recasting the Three R’s of education from reading, writing, and arithmetic to ensuring the nationally recognized campus has the right people, right systems and right resources to ensure students succeed in college, career and life.
For the national Blue Ribbon School, this means the right people must be in place to help students succeed—from teachers in the classroom and custodians on the campus to mentors and partners in the community. The right systems include efficient school procedures and campus operations. The right resources are the academic programs that help every student master every grade level.
Each week, the principal monitors every student’s progress in math, spelling and reading to track progress and offer personalized guidance.
Graham is part of the Northeast Austin Communities for Educational Readiness (learn more at www.nacer.org). As an early college high school, Northeast offers students the opportunity to earn college credit and graduate with a diploma in one hand and an associate’s degree from Austin Community College in the other.
