High School Dual Language Programs
The goals of Austin ISD's dual language programs are for students to excel academically while becoming bilingual, biliterate and bicultural. Our high school programs offer students at least two content courses taught in Spanish each year, including Spanish for Spanish Speakers and a core content class. The program is intended for students who participated in middle school dual language and for native Spanish speakers new to the district.
- Includes a Spanish language/literature course and one Spanish core content (social studies, math and/or science) each year.
- The Multilingual Education Team recommends that Spanish content courses be varied each year so that students are receiving academic Spanish in all content areas throughout their secondary education.
