District Seeks Applicants for Strategic Plan Advisory Committee

Strategic planning is one of the tools Austin ISD uses to provide the district with focus and direction, and to maintain our forward momentum.

As AISD begins to develop the Strategic Plan 2020–25, we will work to ensure that the elements are innovative and inclusive, and that they are created to ensure high-quality learning environments for all students throughout the district.

The superintendent will appoint a Strategic Plan Advisory Committee to develop proposed strategies, based on the board’s framework and on input from stakeholders. The SPAC will meet March–May.

Austin ISD Releases 2019–20 Demographics Report

At the AISD Board of Trustees' information session on Monday, Feb. 10, trustees heard projections for student enrollment over the next 10 years.

Each year, the district commissions a demographic report. The information helps to identify and inform student population and enrollment trends, and how the trends may affect future student populations.

The district saw an increase in enrollment this year; however, the student population is projected to decline approximately 1% per year over the next five years.

Will Davis Elementary Raises Money for Australia Wildfire Relief

Sounds of paper scratching and laughter engulfed the cafeteria at Will Davis Elementary School on Thursday morning as first graders made arts and crafts for a special cause.

Before the winter break, first graders at the elementary school learned about the continent of Australia.

“We spent a lot of time learning about the animals and culture. The kids started talking about the fires right away,” said Rachel Atzmon, first-grade teacher. “Many of the students were upset and wanted to help any way they could so we all got together and came up with this idea.”
