Austin ISD will be open on Veterans Day with the exception of some schools observing a Staff Development Day

The Austin Independent School District will be open on Veterans Day Monday, November 11 with the exception of some schools who will be observing a District of Innovation day. 
 
The following campuses will have one of their District of Innovation (DOI) staff development days on Monday, Nov. 11, which means no classes for students at these schools:

High Schools:

  • Ann Richards
  • Crockett
  • Travis

Middle Schools:

School Changes Version 2, Districtwide Community Conversation

These conversations will focus on the scenarios recommended for implementation for the 2020–21 school year.

Come learn about the district's equity analysis and how it led to the 12 scenarios under consideration in phase one of the School Changes process.

Conversations will also be centered on how the district can refine the scenarios and better support our campus communities through potential transitions.

Dual Language Applications Accepted for Middle and High School, 2020-21

Applications for dual language in middle school and high school for the 2020-21 school year are being accepted until February 14, 2020.

Planning and Asset Management

Who We Are

The Planning and Asset Management Department supports our students, staff and community through short- and long-term facility planning. The team works to advance the district initiative to modernize all schools to support 21st century learning.

What We Do: Planning

  • Collaborate with the Austin ISD community – parents, community members, advisory bodies, teachers, district staff, community partners, and other stakeholders on long-range planning efforts.
  • Plan for future bond programs to align with strategic vision of the district and the Long-Range Plan.
  • Ensure new school facilities are designed to meet Educational Specifications.
  • Analyze 5- and 10-year student enrollment and population projections developed by a K-12 demographic consultant, as well as residential development trends to plan for shifts in school population and enrollment.
  • Monitor and analyze the capacity and space utilization for each school.
  • Create maps using GIS to analyze and display spatial data.
  • Prepare Educational Impact Statements for the City of Austin to determine the effect of proposed residential developments and demolition projects on AISD schools.
  • Provide data analysis and maps for other district departments.
  • Collaborate with the City of Austin, Travis County and other organizations on partnership opportunities.

What We Do: Bond Implementation and Communications

  • Collaborate with campus staff, architecture and construction teams and school communities to facilitate implementation of Bond projects.
  • Oversee the formation and operations of Campus Architectural Teams.
  • Engage school communities in the campus modernization and renovation process.
  • Learn more about our work on the 2022 Bond.

McCallum Fine Arts Academy presents " Murder on the Orient Express"

MacTheatre, a McCallum High School Fine Arts Academy program, will present Agatha Christie's classic masterpiece "Murder on the Orient Express" this month. The students will perform the murder mystery that has been adapted by television, radio, and film, and now will be performed live onstage with playwright Ken Ludwig adaptation.

Austin ISD SAT and ACT Scores Exceed State, National Averages

Over the past three years, Austin ISD outperformed their counterparts across the state on the SAT and ACT exams, according to the College Board and ACT.

"I'm proud of our students and staff for all the hard work that goes into an accomplishment such as this," said AISD Superintendent Paul Cruz. "We're excited to share that we are exceeding the state and national averages on both tests and will continue to prepare students to succeed in college, career, and life."

Special Education Mini Conference

Visit with other families to learn about resources and how to successfully navigate the special education system. Example questions include:
