AISD Food Service is a national leader in sustainability and innovative food service with menus featuring local, sustainably-sourced, and clean label foods. The best way to support sustainable food systems at AISD is to dine at school. The district receives federal funding from the Department of Agriculture for each meal served to students.

Austin ISD English for Me (formerly Maestro en Casa)

En alianza con ACPTA y Texas PTA, Austin ISD ofrece este curso de inglés básico para familias de los estudiantes del distrito. De octubre a abril de cada año, los participantes toman clases en las escuelas de sus hijos para aprender no solamente el idioma sino cómo enfrentar situaciones comunes y el vocabulario a dominar en los temas de los seis apartados de Maestro en Casa: Vivienda, Salud, Finanzas, Trabajo, Educación y Ciudadanía.

Bid openings are held in public at the location specified in the bid documents. Opened bids are reviewed by the Procurement Specialist and the originating department, and a recommendation for award is made based on the criteria established by the State and based on requirements specifically enumerated in the bid documents. Contract awards are made by the Board of Trustees at their monthly meetings, which are held on the fourth Monday of each month. Board meetings are held at 4000 S. I-H 35 Frontage Rd., Austin, TX 78704.

The school renaming process is entering the renaming committee phase where schools/sites will be holding their own meetings to decide on future names.

Each school/site will have 2-4 meetings to decide names and rationale to advance the names to the Superintendent for recommendation to the Board of Trustees.

Students riding or waiting on an AISD school bus is under the supervision of the Austin schools the same as if they are in the school building or on the school grounds, and therefore, are subject to the district's student disciplinary policies. Families are encouraged to discuss with their students the information below, including the consequences for rule violations.

Stop-Arm Camera Program

Safety is in Everyone's Best Interest

Austin ISD has partnered with BusPatrol to commence a full fleet school bus safety program to protect all students on the ride to and from school

Stop-arm cameras are installed at a key location on the exterior of each Austin ISD school bus. When a school bus extends its stop-arm, the system can automatically detect if a vehicle passes the stopped school bus within the enforced zone.

Late Activity Bus Routes

Late Activity Bus Routes

AISD provides bus transportation to students who participate in after-school activities at the majority of the district’s middle and high schools.

Effective for the 2017–18 school year, the transportation team sets up routes for students based on their afternoon bus stop assignments. Schools can see the evening assignment in the system to direct students to their late activity bus. 

Healthy Partnership Increases Access to Services for Northeast Austin Families

Austin ISD has partnered with Central Health, the city of Austin Public Health and Travis County Health & Human Services to provide a new location for families to receive non-clinical services.

AISD students and families recently celebrated the partnership with a grand opening pep rally and community welcome at Overton.

Northeast Health Resource Center is in Portable 7B located at Overton Elementary School, 7201 Colony Loop Drive.
