MEDIA ADVISORY: Barrington Elementary to Celebrate Diversity at Multicultural Night on May 28

Barrington Elementary School and its Dual Language Committee invite the community to Multicultural Night, celebrating the diversity of its community and families.

What: The celebration will showcase music and dance performances, along with food from different cultures. The purpose is to provide the Barrington community with an opportunity to learn about diversity and to share their experiences about their cultures’ similarities and differences.

Johnston HS Vietnam Veterans Memorial

The annual Johnston High School Vietnam Veterans Memorial Ceremony will be held during the Memorial Day weekend at Eastside Memorial HS located at 1012 Arthur Stiles.
 
This year, eight (8) new names will be inscribed on the monument which is located in front of Johnston High School.  This will make a total of sixty-three (63) ex-students from Johnston High School in east Austin that died as a result of the Vietnam conflict.  Nineteen (19) were

Austin ISD, City of Austin, Capital Metro seeking public input on community issues

Conversation Corps, a partnership between the City of Austin, Capital Metro and Austin ISD has announced conversation topics for the next six months. 

Beginning the second Monday of each month, groups meet throughout Austin to talk about specific issues that affect the community. 

In small group settings, facilitators lead each group through a structured dialogue, which gives participants a chance to share their feedback. 

Creative Learning Initiative Announces Leadership, Excellence Award Winners

The lead partners of the Creative Learning Initiative—MINDPOP, Austin ISD and the city of Austin—on May 19 announced the 2015 Creative Learning Leader Award nominees and winners for the Award of Excellence.

The awards recognize the leadership and excellence in creative teaching of talented teachers and principals participating in the Creative Learning Initiative.
