AISD Seeks Community Input at Public Hearings for Potential Bond Package in 2013

Austin, Texas—Members of the public will have an opportunity to address Austin ISD’s Board of Trustees and provide feedback at two public hearings regarding a potential Bond Program in 2013.  The meetings will be followed by a televised special board meeting.

Children's Author Visits Uphaus

Students at Anita Uphaus Early Childhood Center celebrated Reading is Fundamental Week with a reading by New York-based artist and children's Author Kip Cosson.

Cosson, a 1978 graduate of McCallum High School, is the owner and founder of Kip Kids, a national clothing line for children and infants that reatures bold colors and child-like designs. Styles from his clothing line have been featured in Parent Magazine, Glamour and on the cover of TV GUIDE.

AISD Middle School Band Plays Inauguration Festival Saturday

Austin, Texas—Bailey Middle School’s wind ensemble will represent the Austin Independent School District at the 2013 Presidential Inauguration Festival competition Saturday, Jan. 19.

Worldstrides Heritage Performance Programs invited the Bailey wind ensemble to participate in its Presidential Inauguration Festival activities in and around Washington, D.C., which coincide with the festivities leading up to the inauguration of President Barack Obama Jan. 21, which is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Bailey Middle School Band Students to Play Inaugural Festival Jan. 19

Students in the Bailey Middle School Wind Ensemble will represent the Austin Independent School District and the State of Texas this weekend when they perform at the 2013 Inaugural Festival in Washington, D.C. 

The ensemble was handpicked to perform Jan. 19, just days before the historic Presidential Inauguration on Jan. 21, which coincides with Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Austin, Texas—In celebration of Reading is Fundamental week, the Anita Uphaus Early Childhood Center will host Kip Cosson, a New York artist and children’s author who will read his new book, Meece for Mayor of New York City.

AISD Closed for Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday

Austin, TX—The Austin Independent School District will be closed for the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, Monday, Jan. 21.

All AISD offices and schools will be closed during this period. The district will resume regular business hours Tuesday, Jan. 22.
