Children's Author Visits Uphaus

Students at Anita Uphaus Early Childhood Center celebrated Reading is Fundamental Week with a reading by New York-based artist and children's Author Kip Cosson.

Cosson, a 1978 graduate of McCallum High School, is the owner and founder of Kip Kids, a national clothing line for children and infants that reatures bold colors and child-like designs. Styles from his clothing line have been featured in Parent Magazine, Glamour and on the cover of TV GUIDE.

Cosson read to students from his newest book, Meece for Mayor of New York City, which Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell described as a "fun way to get children learning about the election process."

Cosson began his storytelling hour with a magic trick, quickly earning a loyal fan base of kindergarteners. After the reading, he provided students with a drawing demonstration and concluded by donating his series of children's books to the Uphaus Library.
