Overview
Mathews Elementary is an award-winning, small, downtown school with an outstanding staff and a diverse student body. Serving fewer than 420 students in Pre-Kindergarten through sixth Grade, the school's mission is to educate children with positive attitudes, academic foundations, and a lifelong love of learning. School events and traditions include Learning Celebrations, Anthology, Science Fair, International Festival, Visiting Authors, and Family Curriculum Nights. Mathews has a strong emphasis on multiculturalism, with a Multilingual central library, with libraries in every classroom. Sixth grade programs include Keyboarding, Band, Orchestra, Career Shadowing, Mentoring, and Community Service.
