The Austin Independent School District

The new campus was named after a prominent member of Austin’s Black community and a former professor of mathematics at Huston-Tillotson University. Built as part of the 2017 Bond Program, Marshall Middle School is planned for a capacity of 800 students and will follow the Austin ISD vision of creating modern learning spaces for students, incorporating flexible spaces allowing for collaborative, interdisciplinary, and project-driven learning. 

The district engaged the community around enrollment options and programming from diverse perspectives for Marshall in Spring 2022. View the full engagement report in English and Spanish. In November 2022, the district held two additional community conversations to share updates on the enrollment strategy and programming coming to Marshall. Families who want to enroll their incoming 6th-grade student(s) in Marshall for the upcoming school year will need to submit a commitment form (online or physical), which will be sent home after the winter break on January 10, 2023 and then follow the normal enrollment process. The deadline to submit your commitment form submission is February 17. 

• Only incoming sixth grade student(s) from the eight schools listed above will be eligible to choose Marshall.
• Families must complete the Marshall commitment form (physical or online) in addition to the standard enrollment form to indicate their intent to enroll their student(s) at Marshall. 
• The initial deadline for the commitment form has passed.  However, we want to ensure your middle school choice is honored. We will be accepting commitment forms through the end of July. Email Principal Jordan Benson at jordan.benson@austinisd.org with any questions.. 
• Once the district receives the commitment form, a representative will reach out to confirm their choice of middle school.
• If families indicate that they’d like to send their incoming sixth grade student to Marshall on the commitment form, they’ll see Marshall on the standard enrollment form.

In January, we'll hold community meetings at eight elementary schools (Andrews, Blanton, Harris, Jordan, Norman-Sims, Overton, Pecan Springs and Winn) who can choose to enroll at Marshall Middle School. Marshall para el año escolar 2023-24.
