Additional Compensation for Substitute Teachers (New):

When under specific pandemic restrictions, the following additional compensation will be added to teacher substitute pay:

  • $25/day in fulfilling a teacher substitute role (Stage 5 only)
  • Additional $300 for fulfilling a teacher substitute opportunity every working day within a given month (Stage 4 & 5)

*Additional Requirements

Permanent Substitute at not-rated schools:

  • Flat Rate: $165/day
  • Must be Texas Certified Teacher
  • Must be interviewed and approved by the Substitute Office

Substitute Classified (Non-Teaching) Assignment Base Rate:

  • High School Diploma or GED: $70/day

Substitute teachers with fewer than 60 college credit hours:

  • Only eligible to accept assignments in elementary or middle school campuses

Additional Compensation Opportunities:

Substitute Teacher Incremental Pay:

  • Teacher substitutes will receive an additional $20/day for completing more than 45 days in any combination of assignments.

Substitute Teacher Long-term Pay:

  • Teacher substitutes will receive an additional $20/day for completing 20 consecutive days or more in the same assignment for the same teacher.
  • *Teacher substitute must be present for 95% of the assignment overall, unless he/she can produce documentation from their healthcare provider requiring them to miss in excess of that 95% threshold (i.e., proof of positive COVID test and follows standard 5-day quarantine.) Teacher must return back to that same assignment following the missed day(s)

Classified (Non-Teaching) Incremental Pay:

  • Classified substitutes will receive an additional $10/day for completing more than 45 days in any combination of assignments.

Absence Management (Formerly Aesop) is the nation’s leading automated substitute placement and absence management system, serving more than 3,000 districts nationwide. The substitute management system is used exclusively to secure and pay substitutes for teacher, classified, administrator and non-teaching professional at the campus and district level.

Login Information:

  • Visit Absence Management to log in.
  • LOGIN ID: SUBS or EMPLOYEES:  "00" followed by 6 digits of Employee ID#.  i.e. (00123456)
  • PIN: 4 or 5 digits, generated by Absence Management (user may change pin number after initial login)
