Details:

  • Teacher Substitutes will receive an additional $20/day for completing more than 45 consecutive days in any combination of assignments.
  • To achieve/maintain incremental pay, Teacher Substitutes must be present for 95% of the assignment overall unless he/she can produce documentation from their healthcare provider requiring them to miss in excess of that threshold (e.g., proof of COVID test and follows standard 5-day quarantine) OR at the approval/discretion of the Sub Office. The teacher Substitute must return back to the same assignment following the missed day(s).
  • Permanent substitutes at non-rated schools must be a certified teacher; interview and selection by the Substitute Office is required.
  • Teacher Substitutes with less than 60 college credit hours are only eligible for ES or MS assignments.

Additional Positions:

  • Librarian Substitutes: $120.00 (Full day) per day, $60.00 (Half day)
  • Substitute Assistant Health Room: $115 (Full day) per day, $57.50 (Half day)
  • Substitute School Nurse: $210 (Full day) per day, $105.00 (Half day)
  • Substitute Counselor: $296.00 (Full day) per day, $148.00 (Half day)

Resources

Frontline Substitute Management Center (formerly Absence Management)

The Austin Independent School District uses the Substitute Management Center (abbreviated SMC) which is an integrated platform in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). The SMC utilizes the internet to assign substitutes to teacher absences/vacancies. The SMC will take the place of Absence Management. The SMC is accessed by logging into the Austin ISD Portal and clicking on the tile in the portal - Substitute Management Center. At this time, there is no mobile application that can be downloaded for use.
