Salute 2020... virtually!
Salute is AISD’s annual celebration to recognize some of the district’s outstanding team members for their continued dedication to student excellence and achievement in our schools.
In 2020, to ensure the district maintained a safe environment during COVID-19, the Office of Human Capital and Talent Acquisition and Development team, Austin Partners in Education and Channel 22 hosted a virtual Salute 2020 Celebration to honor the great work of our staff and recognize all of our award finalists and winners.
Throughout the week, we shared photos and celebrations of our campus Teachers of the Year and Teachers of Promise as well as finalists and award winner announcements in the categories of: Principal of the Year, Assistant Principal of the Year, Counselor of the Year, Librarian of the Year, Classified Staff of the Year, and PTAs of the Year. See the nominees and winners below!
As the main event, our special virtual Salute Awards Ceremony was broadcast on AISD.TV on Wednesday, May 20 at 6:30pm! Friends, families, and the community were invited to tune in, host virtual watch parties, and celebrate their nominees and award winners on social media using the #AISDSalute2020.

AISD's 2019-20 Teachers of Promise
AISD's 2019-20 Campus Teachers of the Year
Classified Staff of the Year
This award recognizes an outstanding AISD classified employee. Classified employees are defined as hourly employees and include, but are not limited to, teacher assistants, office staff and custodians. The Classified Staff of the Year recognizes an AISD staff member who has gone beyond his/her regularly assigned job duties to promote the development and/or progress of the district’s mission, and should demonstrate a positive effect on the AISD campus/community.

Librarian of the Year
This award recognizes an outstanding AISD campus librarian. The Librarian of the Year should demonstrate collaborative relationships with students, families and staff and create a learning environment that contributes to student success.

Counselor of the Year
The award recognizes an outstanding AISD campus counselor. The Counselor of the Year should demonstrate collaborative relationships with students, parents and staff that contribute to student success and a positive campus climate.

Assistant Principal of the Year
This award recognizes an outstanding AISD campus assistant principal. The nominee must have the job title of “assistant principal”. Nominees for Assistant Principal of the Year should exhibit leadership qualities centered around the support and maintenance of collaborative relationships with students, parents and staff that positively affect student achievement and campus climate.

Principal of the Year
This award recognizes an outstanding AISD campus principal. The Principal of the Year should demonstrate attributes that foster an exemplary campus environment by promoting positive community engagement, high student achievement, healthy campus climate, and an effective leadership style.
