Austin ISD schools and offices closed Tuesday, Jan. 27

Dear Austin ISD Community, 

All Austin ISD offices and schools will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 27. All extracurricular activities and athletic events are also canceled.

Decisions like these are never easy because we know our students do best when they’re in school. However, when faced with the choice between a normal schedule and the physical safety of our students, families and staff, we will always choose safety.

Board Special Meeting - Closed Session

A Special Meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Austin Independent School District will be held Friday, Jan. 30, 2026 beginning at 5 p.m. A quorum of the Board will be physically present at the District's Central Office, 4000 S. IH-35 Frontage Road, Austin, Texas 78704. All items scheduled for discussion fall under closed session in accordance with Chapter 551 of the Texas Government Code. View the agenda.

Dear Austin ISD Community, 

Due to anticipated extreme temperatures and unsafe road conditions, all Austin ISD offices and schools will be closed Monday, Jan. 26.

Based on reports from our local meteorologist and crews out in the field, we expect that road conditions will continue to be unsafe well into the day Monday. Though conditions may appear to improve throughout the day in some areas, freezing temperatures overnight could lead to dangerous ice patches across the city.

Austin ISD schools and offices will close Monday, Jan. 26 due to expected extreme temperatures and road conditions. 

Austin ISD will continue to monitor the weather and receive updates from the National Weather Service.

Austin ISD teachers surprised as finalists for the H-E-B 2026 Excellence in Education Awards

Two amazing Austin ISD teachers received a big surprise on Jan. 13 as they learned they are finalists for the prestigious 2026 H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards. 

Joslin Elementary School Special Education Teacher Alasin DeVeny and Becker Elementary School Physical Education Teacher Megan Vasquez were surprised in their classrooms by H-E-B and district representatives.
