Austin ISD Marks 15-Year Milestone in Social Worker Support, Thanks to CapCityKids Grant (En español)

“School Social Workers are the link between the home, school and community in providing direct as well as indirect services to students, families and school personnel to promote and support students' academic and social success,” -- this is how the School Social Work Association of America defines this profession.

We have our eye on the forecast (En español)

Winter weather is in the forecast next week and we’re monitoring how it may affect Austin ISD schools and offices.

Why it matters: Cold and icy conditions could cause us to delay or cancel district schools, as well as affect electricity and other utilities.

What we’re doing: We work closely with meteorologists and other local entities to monitor the weather and make final decisions.

MLK March and Festival

The Annual Community March, hosted by the Austin Heritage Council celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King’s legacy while uplifting diversity and multiculturalism in our city. All businesses, non-profit organizations and individuals are invited to march and celebrate Dr. King’s legacy.

The MLK Community March kicks off at 9 a.m., Monday, Jan. 15 with a short program at the MLK Statue on the University of Texas campus.

At the conclusion of the program at the MLK Statue, we'll march to the south steps of the Capitol for a rally.
