Austin ISD to Operate on Two-Hour Delay

Austin ISD classes, buses and offices will have a two-hour delayed start tomorrow, Tuesday, Jan. 16, due to expected inclement weather.

All after-school and/or outdoor activities will be brought indoors according to our temperature guidelines.

A two-hour delay adds two hours to your school’s start time and to the start time of all bus routes. For example, if a campus starts the day at 7:40 a.m., the day will now start at 9:40 a.m.

Past Due Special Education Evaluations Decreased by 82% Over Last Year (En español)

Roughly a year into implementing our comprehensive plan to address the backlog of Special Education evaluations to better meet the needs of students with disabilities, we’re beginning to see clear signs that the plan is working

By the Numbers: The district completed more than two and a half times as many evaluations in Fall 2023 than we completed in Fall 2022 — a 153% increase!

Inclement Weather Protocols

Weather in Central Texas can be unpredictable and bring conditions that may impact our community and subsequently bring changes to Austin ISD campuses and offices.

As inclement weather is predicted or approaches, Austin ISD will follow inclement weather protocols to determine if an adjustment to school or office operations is necessary to ensure student, staff and community safety.

Safety Resources

Austin ISD's Police Department is dedicated to the healthy development of students and employees. We strive to add time and resources back where they count—the classroom. Education is the ultimate mitigator of risks. Please take time to review each resource, which address the risks associated with various threats and hazards, including bullying, gangs and drug abuse.
