The Austin ISD community will have an opportunity to meet and ask questions at two public forums with Superintendent Lone Finalist Matias Segura next week.
What to Expect: Interim Superintendent Segura will be led through a discussion of questions that are submitted in advance through the Lone Finalist ThoughtExchange.
The public may submit their questions in advance and also rate the questions of others.
- The first public forum will take place virtually on 6 p.m. on Jan. 18 on Zoom.
- An in-person and virtual option will be noon Jan. 20 at Marshall Middle School.
Both meetings will be in English with Spanish interpretation.
Background: The Austin ISD Board of Trustees chose Matias Segura as the lone finalist for Austin ISD's superintendent position. The decision was made unanimously during the December 14 meeting. Segura has worked for the district since 2018, serving as chief of operations and leading the implementation of the $1.05 billion 2017 bond. Segura's ties to Austin ISD run deep—He is a graduate of Austin ISD, the son of a long-time Austin ISD teacher and the father of two Austin ISD students.
What's next: The Austin ISD Board of Trustees is slated to vote on a superintendent contract at the regularly scheduled voting meeting Jan. 25.
