What is the purpose of the SEFAC?

This committee will focus on 3 primary goals:

  • Clear & Inclusive Vision with Shared Ownership
  • Strong Tier 1 Instruction within a Multi-tiered System of Support. 
  • Evaluation & Compliance

General Information

We are currently seeking additional parent members to join SEFAC. Applications will be reviewed with district leadership including our TEA assigned monitors. To apply for membership on an AISD Advisory Committee, please complete and submit the standard application form: English / Spanish. Meetings will be held at AISD Headquarters, 4000 S. I-H 35 Frontage Rd., Austin, TX 78704.

Final Negotiated Agreed Order‌

The final, negotiated agreed order between Austin ISD and Texas Education Agency was voted on by our Board of Trustees on September 26, 2023. In this agreed order the Austin ISD Special Education Department will be creating a new Parent Advisory Committee. This can be found within Priority IV, item 7, pp. 24-26, which requires a specific application, review, and selection process which can be found within the SEFAC Bylaws

¿Cuál es el propósito del Comité Consultivo para las Familias de Educación Especial (SEFAC por sus siglas en Ingles)?

Este comité se enfocará en 3 metas primarias:

  • Visión clara e inclusiva con Responsabilidad Compartida.
  • Sólida instrucción de nivel 1 dentro de un Sistema de Apoyo Multinivel
  • Evaluación y cumplimiento

Información general

Actualmente estamos buscando padres adicionales para que se unan a SEFAC. Las solicitudes serán revisadas por el liderazgo del distrito, incluidos nuestros monitores asignados por TEA. Los miembros seleccionados serán notificados antes del 15 de febrero de 2025 y AISD confirmará la publicación de su nombre en el sitio web de AISD. Las reuniones se llevarán a cabo en la sede de AISD, 4000 S. I-H 35 Frontage Rd., Austin, TX 78704.

Orden final negociada y acordada

Se votó para la orden final negociada y acordada entre el Austin ISD y la Agencia de Educación de Texas en nuestra mesa directiva el 26 de septiembre del 2023. En esta orden acordada el Departamento de Educación Especial del Austin ISD estará creando un nuevo Comité Consultivo de Padres de Familia. Esto se puede encontrar dentro de Prioridad IV, punto 7, páginas. 24-26, que requiere un proceso de solicitud, revisión y selección (SEFAC Estatutos).

Beware of increased phishing, spoofing emails (En español)

Austin ISD is receiving reports of spoofing and phishing emails. Spoofing is a cybercrime where someone pretends to be a trusted contact in order to gain access to sensitive personal information. This means that staff and families could receive an email that appears to be a legitimate Austin ISD email, however it is not. 

Rest assured our technology teams are investigating and taking all the steps necessary to address the issue. At this time, our cyber security systems have caught all the spoofed emails and none have been successfully delivered.
