Austin ISD Job Fair

The Austin ISD Job Fair is an opportunity for candidates to learn more about Austin ISD and the opportunities offered in Austin. We're hiring teachers, teacher assistants, counselors, bus drivers, and food service staff.

MEDIA ADVISORY: Austin High School to Host Grand Opening Ceremony for Modernized Spaces

Austin High School will celebrate its newly renovated areas with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, April 14.

As part of the 2017 Bond Program, Austin High School received a full running track replacement; a new addition that supports the dance and athletic programs; and renovations to the special education, career and technical education, life skills and fine arts spaces.

Tools for Success Session

Tools for success is series of informational virtual sessions for AISD families to learn more about services and support we have available inside the district.
The session coming up is: Could I be able to pay for my child's College?
In this session the AISD Early College Department will provide information about the resources they have available and will offer information to families on how their students can graduate simultaneously with a High School Diploma and an associate degree- all for free!
Session will be in English.

Pre-K and Kinder registrations spike for the 2022-23 school year (En español)

In another sign that the pandemic is waning, registrations for Austin ISD pre-K and kindergarten have already doubled what they were last spring.

Why it matters: The district saw the largest decrease in enrollment among pre-K and kindergarten through the pandemic, and this accounted for a large portion of the district failing to meet enrollment expectations.

Austin ISD Teacher Helps Student From Choking

A teacher's job description has a wide range of duties; however, it's not every day that you have to save the life of one of your students.

Barbara Jordan Elementary School 5th grade teacher Jose Rodriguez had to act quickly to save the life of one of his students who began choking on a water bottle top in class. 

Rodriguez delivered a whole-group science lesson and faced the whiteboard when he heard a gasping sound. His initial reaction was that a student was interrupting his class, but he could see that one of his students was choking when he turned around.

COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic - Northeast Early College High School

We have a free COVID-19 vaccine opportunity available for our AISD Community, all family members included, 5 years of age and older.

Booster shots are available at this clinic. If you got Pfizer, you're 12 or older and it’s been five months since your second shot, it’s time for a booster. If you got Moderna, you’re 18 or older and it’s been six months since your second shot, it’s time for a booster. Learn more about boosters at the CDC's website.
