June is LBGTQIA+ Pride and History month to honor the experiences and contributions of LBGTQIA+ People. AISD honors PRIDE Month during March, with PRIDE Week so the AISD community can celebrate when school is in session.

The Harvest Moon or Mid-Autumn Festival is a festival that honors the full moon and typically includes a family reunion under the moonlight to share food, givethanks, and pray for longevity and good future. The Mid-Autumn Festival is referred to as Zhong Qiu Jie in Mandarin, Tết Trung Thu in Vietnamese, and Hangawi or Jungchujeol in Korean. This day is often celebrated by family and social gatherings and offerings of mooncake for some communities.

Ganesha Chathurthi, also called Vinayaka Chaturthi is a 10 day festival that celebrates the birth of Ganesha, the Hindu God of prosperity and wisdom. This festival is celebrated through ritual prayer, offerings, and food.

Krishna Janmashtami is a Hindu observance that signifies the birth of Krishna (8th incarnation of Vishnu, a Hindu God) and it is a day that is celebrated through fasting, prayers, and visits to the Temple.

Eid Al-Adha is the feast of sacrifice, as it honors the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son, who was replaced by a ram instead. Eid Al Adha is observed by the Muslim community through a day of prayers and social gatherings.

The Dragon Boat Festival, also know as Duānwǔ Jié, is an important Chinese holiday that involves dragon boat racing, special foods, and customs. This holiday honors Qu Yuan, a patriotic Chinese Poet.

Eid Al-Fitr commemorates the end of fasting for Ramadan and is typically a day of prayers, gifts, and family/social gatherings for the Muslim community.

May is Asian American and Pacific Islander month to honor the experiences and contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
