AISD Partners with Junior League of Austin for 34th Annual Coats for Kids

Austin ISD and Coats for Kids didn’t allow a pandemic to slow their mission of bringing some warmth to children this holiday season.

Coats for Kids, in partnership with the Junior League of Austin, is a distribution event that provides over 8,000 winter coats to AISD students every winter.

In past years, Coats for Kids was held at the Palmer Event Center, where students could pick a coat in person. This year, with the help of Parent Support Specialists, families completed a form with a preferred size and color. Coats were distributed to their campus.

We are proactively working with Austin Public Health on how the district will proceed in the event Austin moves into Stage 5 of its risk-based guidelines. If that were to happen, Austin ISD would consult with public health officials to determine the next steps.
