  Austin Voters Give Overwhelming Approval to $343.7 Million in New School Bonds

May 10, 2008 - Austin voters have given overwhelming approval to three separate Bond Propositions totaling $343.7 million that will allow the Austin School District to alleviate student overcrowding at certain campus, construct new high school science classrooms, expand its utilization of campus and central office technology, purchase energy-efficient buses, build a new Performing Arts Center, address other critical needs, and plan for the future.

AISD's Photo Gallery - Hart Elementary School fifth grade students participate in a Game Pad, an "active gaming" activity, which is among the many physical fitness challenge options available to participants of the ACTIVE Life Challenge. The Challenge is an eight week in-school and at-home "active lifestyle" program for students and their families. Each week students and their families accept new challenges that require them to get involved in physical fitness activities nutritional information and other lifestyle choices. The Challenge will culminate with the Active Life Tour, a free community-wide celebration on Saturday, May 17, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Toney Burger Center, located at 3200 Jones Rd.
