Since the passing of Texas Senate Bill 11 (TEC; 37.115) in 2019, Texas joined one of the few states where it is now required by law for schools to have a Safe and Supportive School Program (SSSP) team that oversees a variety of student needs such as Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, Behavioral Threat Assessments, School Climate, and Emergency Planning and Implementation.
At a special voting meeting Aug. 11 the Austin ISD Board of Trustees approved a contract appointing Dr. Stephanie Elizalde as the district's new superintendent effective Aug. 12.
The Board named Dr. Elizalde as the lone finalist for superintendent at its July 21 meeting. Tonight's appointment comes after a required 21-day waiting period after the announcement of a lone finalist.

Austin ISD is happy to announce the launch of our mobile app—a new way to stay connected.
The app will allow all AISD students, staff and families to receive notifications from the district and campuses for which they wish to subscribe.

Early this morning, the Austin ISD Board of Trustees approved a revised school calendar which reflects students’ first day as September 8.
The Austin ISD Board of Trustees has approved an updated calendar, changing the first day of school to Sept. 8, at its Aug. 6 Special Voting Meeting.
