AISD Welcomes Three New Members to District Leadership Team

Austin ISD welcomes three new team members-Sheila Henry is the new executive director of high schools, Raul Moreno will serve as associate superintendent of middle schools and Ty Davidson is now executive director of middle schools.

Henry, principal of LBJ Early College High School, was named principal of the year for high schools of AISD in 2016. At LBJ, she has implemented social and emotional learning and college success classes focused on well-being and character education traits.

NAMI Basics Class

NAMI Basics Class is a 6-week education program taught by parents with lived experience. 

For parents and family caregivers of children and teens who are experiencing signs of behavioral or mental health concerns or who have a diagnosis.

You’ll learn the facts about mental health conditions and how best to support your child at home, school and when they’re getting medical care.

All are welcome to attend. Spanish interpretation available.

Childcare will not be provided.

Dates: Oct. 1, 15, 22, 29 and Nov. 5, 12

Seed Model Campuses

Seed Model Campuses

The purpose of the Seed Model Campus Program is to support campuses throughout Austin ISD in their journey of goal-oriented, intentional, campus-wide SEL and CP&I integration into school culture and systems.

In order to engage in the process, all participants are asked to submit a proposal, which includes a S.M.A.R.T.I.E. goal related to SEL and CP&I implementation.

TRIO Electrical Construction Program Launch

Austin ISD, in partnership with Austin Community College and TRIO Electric, invite the community to a ceremony to launch the TRIO Electrical Construction Program at Lanier Early College High School

This ceremony will recognize the first cohort of students entering the program at Lanier.

The students will receive their equipment belts, hats and other safety gear to begin both their academic and skills training.

Guest speakers include:

  • Richard Rhodes, president of Austin Community College
  • Beau Pollock, president and CEO of TRIO Electric
  • Craig Shapiro, Austin ISD's associate superintendent for high schools
  • Lanier ECHS Principal Ryan Hopkins

Students in this program will earn industry certifications and will participate in on-the-job training at commercial sites during the summer.

Please join us at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 20 at Lanier ECHS, 1201 Payton Gin Road. We hope to see you there!
