Ann Richards School Celebrates 93 Stars

The Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders honored 93 seniors at their graduation ceremony this afternoon at the Frank Erwin Center.

In the sixth graduation ceremony for the school, students were celebrated for earning a school record of $13 million in scholarships.

Superintendent Paul Cruz said 100 percent of the graduates had been accepted to a four-year college, and 70 percent will be the first in their families to attend college. 

2018 Graduation Season Begins With Eight Rosedale Students

Austin ISD’s 2018 graduation season began with an emotional ceremony this afternoon, when eight Rosedale School students earned their diplomas.

Friends and families with balloons filled the room, and Principal Elizabeth Dickey addressed the graduates. 

“Each of you has been a teacher to us. Your efforts to learn more and achieve more than we ever knew you could, show us that we all can do hard things,” she said. “You have taught us how to belong to each other in so many special ways.”

Austin ISD Offers Free Meals to All Children During Summer

Children need nutritious meals to learn, grow and thrive—even when school is not in session.

Through the Summer Food Service Program, Austin ISD will continue to serve free breakfast and lunch to local youth ages 18 and younger, regardless of economic status or whether the child attends AISD.

And new this year, Capital Metro is offering free bus rides to all K–12 students, giving children a safe, easy way to get to free meal sites.

Forms & Resources

All students participating in athletics, marching band, cheerleading, drill team, and dance will be required to obtain a new physical dated after April 15, 2025 prior to participating in any practice or activity for the 2025-26 school year.

Austin ISD Athletics is focused on fostering a sense of perspective and self-awareness in our student-athletes, as well as a love of competition. Student-athletes compete under the rules and regulations of the University Interscholastic League, including those regarding eligibility. To be remain eligible to compete in athletics, students must maintain passing grades in all subjects and meet residency requirements. 

Middle Schools

Austin ISD Middle School Athletics

Austin ISD middle school student-athletes compete against each other and against their peers throughout the area in programs including basketball, football, soccer, tennis, track and volleyball. 

Eastside Memorial Students Earn EMT Certification

Two graduating seniors at Eastside Memorial Early College High School recently passed the National Registry Emergency Medical Technician exams and were awarded national registry diplomas.

Jose Guerrero and Ahmed Baban Newzad completed the yearlong program by taking classes at the Austin Community College Eastview campus and the ACC Health Science Academy campus throughout the current school year.
