UIL Eligibility

Austin ISD Athletics is focused on fostering a sense of perspective and self-awareness in our student-athletes, as well as a love of competition. Student-athletes compete under the rules and regulations of the University Interscholastic League, including those regarding eligibility. To be remain eligible to compete in athletics, students must maintain passing grades in all subjects and meet residency requirements. 

Below are the dates grades are checked, along with eligibility status and the date when a student becomes ineligible or regains eligibility. 

Sept. 28

Ineligible students become eligible if they are passing all classes at the end of the first six-weeks grading period. Students not passing at the end of the first six-weeks grading period become ineligible. Eligibility is lost/gained: Oct. 5.

Oct. 19

Ineligible students become eligible if they are passing all classes at the end of the three-week evaluation period. Students who were passing at the end of the first six-weeks grading period remain eligible. Eligibility is lost/gained: Oct. 26.

Nov. 2

Ineligible students become eligible if they are passing all classes at the end of the secind six-weeks grading period. Students not passing at the end of the second six-weeks grading period become ineligible. Eligibility is lost/gained: Nov. 9.

Nov. 30

Ineligible students become eligible if they are passing all classes at the end of the three-week evaluation period. Students who were passing at the end of the second six-weeks grading period remain eligible. Eligibility is lost/gained: Dec. 7.

Dec. 20

Ineligible students become eligible if they are passing all classes at the end of the third six-weeks grading period. Students not passing at the end of the third six-weeks grading period become ineligible. (See Holiday Rule) Eligibility is lost/gained: Jan. 14, 2019.

Jan. 25, 2019

Ineligible students become eligible if they are passing all classes at the end of the three-week evaluation period. Students who were passing at the end of the third six-weeks grading period remain eligible. Eligibility is lost/gained: Feb. 1.

Feb. 8

Ineligible students become eligible if they are passing all classes at the end of the fourth six-weeks grading period. Students not passing at the end of the fourth six-weeks grading period become ineligible. Eligibility is lost/gained: Feb. 15.

March 1

Ineligible students become eligible if they are passing all classes at the end of the three-week evaluation period. Students who were passing at the end of the fourth six-weeks grading period remain eligible. (See Holiday Rule) Eligibility is lost/gained: March 8.

March 29

Ineligible students become eligible, if passing all classes at the end of the fifth six-weeks grading period. Students not passing at the end of the fifth six-weeks grading period become ineligible. Eligibility is lost/gained: April 5.

April 19

Ineligible students become eligible, if passing all classes at the end of the three-week evaluation period. Students who were passing at the end of the fifth six-weeks grading period remain eligible. Eligibility is lost/gained: April 26.
