Physical Education

Fitnessgram

All 3rd through 12th grade students enrolled in a PE or a PE substitution are required to take the Fitnessgram assessment. The assessment includes a variety of health-related physical fitness tests that assess aerobic capacity, muscular strength and body composition. Scores from these assessments are compared to Healthy Fitness Zone standards to determine students' overall physical fitness and suggest areas for improvement. Parents can request a copy of their student's Fitnessgram report from their physical education teacher or view it on the AISD Parent Cloud.

National Board Certification

National Board Certified Teachers

A National Board Certified Teacher has achieved the highest professional credential in the field of teaching. The certification is a means to professional growth and improvement, and is designed to promote excellence in teaching. Austin ISD is proud to have 172 active National Board Certified Teachers—more than any other school district in the state of Texas.
