Humanities Texas announced today that Elizabeth Close of Anderson High School is one of three recipients of the 2017 Humanities Texas Award for Outstanding Early-Career Teaching.
State Rep. Donna Howard presented Close with her award during a ceremony today at Anderson High School.

Travis County voters overwhelmingly approved the district's $1.05 billion bond proposal, which includes 16 new or modernized campuses and 21st-century learning spaces for students throughout the district.
According to unofficial results from the Travis County Clerk's office, 72.06 percent of voters cast their ballots in favor of the proposition.
Join AISD's 800 beginning orchestra students, representing 19 middle schools and 6 elementary schools, and the high schools' Senior String Players for an afternoon of beautiful music at the 44th Annual Fall Festival for Strings.
The concert begins at 12:15 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Austin ISD Performing Arts Center.
Admission is free.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 29 in the Austin High Performing Arts Center, with a special performance featuring the many award-winning arts programs at Austin High.
Families will then have time to visit with teachers and students representing all aspects of Austin High academics, electives, sports and clubs. Mark your calendars for this exciting night!
The Third Annual Ladies of Distinction Young Women's Conference theme for this year is "Not Your Average Young Lady."
The conference is focused on building character and self-confidence in young women between the ages of 12 and 18.
Students in grades 8–12 are welcome to register for this free event.
