District Looks to Finalize Actions to Liquidate Buildings

The Austin Independent School District is moving forward with the sale of several buildings including the district's headquarters building, the Carruth Administration Center, located at 1111 W. Sixth St., pending approval of the district's trustees.
  
Previously, the board began a plan of action to review its assets. District officials began soliciting bids for certain properties through an open, public process.
 
"This is a positive step forward. AISD is among the largest land owners in the city.

Central Texas Food Bank Available for Meals During Thanksgiving Break

Students in need of healthy meals during the Thanksgiving break will still have access to food services while Austin ISD is closed Nov. 20-24. 
 
The Central Texas Food Bank will provide services at various locations throughout the region and is available for families in need.

AISD Closed for Thanksgiving Holiday

The Austin Independent School District will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday, Monday, Nov. 20, through Friday, Nov. 24. 

All AISD offices and schools will be closed during this period. The district will resume regular business hours Monday, Nov. 27.

Because the district will be closed, signup for public comment for the Nov. 27 regular board meeting will be this Friday, Nov. 17, from 1–4:45 p.m. and will also take place 7:45 a.m.–7 p.m. the day of the regular board meeting.

Two Anderson Astronomy Students Accepted into NASA High School Aerospace Scholars Program

Leah Griffith and Bailey Williams have been accepted into the NASA High School Aerospace Scholars program. 

The NASA HAS program is an intensive, interactive online learning experience highlighted by a weeklong internship at the Johnson Space Center in Houston.

Selected students are encouraged to study mathematics, science, engineering and computer science by interacting with engineers at NASA's Johnson Space Center.

From across the state of Texas, students are selected to participate by their state legislator and teachers through a highly competitive process.

Applications for Austin ISD's Dual Language programs for the 2018-19 school year will be accepted Dec. 8, 2017 – Jan. 31, 2018 for Pre-K and Kindergarten students.

Applications will be accepted Nov. 15, 2017 – Feb. 16, 2018 for middle school students.
