Austin, McCallum Marching Bands Advance to State UIL Contest

The Austin High School and McCallum Fine Arts Academy marching bands have advanced to the 2017 UIL State 5A Marching Band Contest after successfully placing among the top five bands in Central Texas.

The two high school marching bands will compete against other 5A schools from across the state Nov. 8 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

Austin will perform at 4 p.m. and McCallum will perform at 5:15 p.m.

This is the second time in recent history that two AISD marching bands have taken the field in the UIL State Marching Band competition.

The parents, staff and students of the Liberal Arts and Science Academy invite you to learn more about AISD’s academic magnet school.

Instructionally, students participate in college level classes from the day they step on campus. But rigorous course work is not all we have to offer. 

Extracurricular activities abound with a club, team or organization available for students regardless of their interest or ability level.

Whether an artist, musician, athlete or budding robotics engineer students will find a place where they are welcome and accepted for who they are.

Engaging our Community in College Readiness: Empowering Students in the Digital Age

Webb Middle School is proud to present the fifth annual College Readiness Conference. Engaging our Students in College Readiness: Empowering Students in the Digital Age is a workshop for students and parents.  

What: Parent workshops include learning how to prepare students for college as well as how to access their student's’ grades on the AISD Cloud.

194 Austin ISD Students Earn Recognition for Academic Performance

The National Merit Scholarship Program and the National Hispanic Recognition Program this year recognized 194 Austin ISD seniors for outstanding academic performance.

Students are selected based on their scores on the preliminary SAT, which they take as juniors. Because of their high scores on this assessment, these students are now eligible for scholarship awards from institutions of higher education and other grantors.

Trustee Amber Elenz Participates in Leadership Program


Austin ISD Trustee Amber Elenz joined 30 other school board members from across Texas Oct. 5-7 at the kickoff session of the Leadership Texas Association of School Boards class of 2018.
 
Selected by TASB, the group participates in a yearlong education leadership study program. These trustees represent school districts of all sizes, with student populations of 184 to 83,270, and reflect a similar range of property wealth.
