The Lamar Middle School & Fine Arts Academy Symphonic Winds will travel to Chicago to perform at the 71st Midwest Clinic.
The Midwest Clinic is an international music conference with student musicians selected around the world to showcase ideas and talent. The Lamar musicians will be among four middle school band ensembles to perform at the invitation-only event.
The Lamar community will hold a free send-off concert December 13 at 7 pm at AISD Performing Arts Center.
The Community Bond Oversight Committee provides public oversight of AISD's 2008 and 2014 Bond Program projects. The Texas Association of School Administrators announced today that Lanier Early College High School Teacher Tara Bordeaux has been chosen as the 2018 Texas Secondary Teacher of the Year.
Ms. B, as she's known to her students, will represent the state as Texas Teacher of the Year in the National Teacher of the Year competition.
This is the second year in a row that an Austin ISD teacher has received this honor.
"I'm just trying to breathe right now. I can't believe it," Bordeaux said after the announcement.
