Austin ISD kicks off football season

Austin ISD football teams kicked off the 2016 season in style, highlighted by the 15th annual Taco Shack Bowl at House Park.

The Anderson Trojans carried a two-game winning streak into the showdown with the McCallum Knights, but it was the Knights who gained the upper hand early and never trailed.

McCallum scored on five of its first six possessions, jumping out to a 27-7 lead at the break. Anderson responded with a pair of touchdowns in the second half, including a sparkling interception return for a touchdown by Robert Abernathy to narrow the gap to six points.
