Austin ISD Commits to Increasing Participation by Historically Underutilized Business

Austin ISD trustees voted Monday night to approve a new program that establishes targets for the number of contracts awarded to women- and minority-owned businesses, known as a Historically Underutilized Business program. 

The HUB program is intended to provide equal opportunities for all vendors to garner Austin ISD contracts.

Hot Science, Cool Talks: The Amazing Mission to Pluto

As part of the Austin ISD Science Department's collaboration with UT Austin's Environmental Science Institute, the community is invited to the most recent installment in the Hot Science Cool Talks series.

AISD staff will be co-presenting The Amazing Mission to Pluto with Dr. Alan Stern, the mission leader for the New Horizons Mission to Pluto.

Please join us for an out-of-this-world discussion and community science fair: 5:45–8 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Austin ISD Performing Arts Center, 1500 Barbara Jordan Blvd. 

Deadline to Register for Credit by Examination for Acceleration

Credit by Examination for Acceleration for Austin ISD middle and high school students will be administered this fall on their campuses during the CBE testing window: Oct. 21–Nov. 18.

Austin ISD students in grades 6–12 seeking credit for a course in which they have had no prior instruction may take Credit by Exam for Acceleration with the approval of their campus principal, registrar or counselor. S

tudents must score 80 or above to pass and earn credit.
