MEDIA ADVISORY: McCallum Designated Grammy Signature School

The Grammy Foundation announced March 10 that Austin ISD’s McCallum High School was awarded the top designation of National Grammy Signature School, the only school in the nation to receive this designation. In addition to receiving the honors, the school will receive a $5,000 grant.

Legislative Session: AISD Testifies to Support Fuller Funding for Flexible School Day

SB 496 will permit districts to receive the same level of funding for the same number of instructional hours, regardless of whether a student attends classes five days a week.

My name is Debra Ready, and I am the executive director of accountability for the Austin Independent School District, representing the Austin ISD and Texas Association of School Boards.

Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders Named 19th Most Challenging High School in U.S.

The Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders has been named the 19th most challenging high school in the U.S. according to a nationwide high school ranking system created by Washington Post education columnist Jay Mathews.

The list includes more than 2,300 public and private schools across the country with 169 schools in Texas. Only 11 percent of U.S. high schools achieve the standards to be on the list.

Travis High School Welcomes Consuelo Kickbusch

Travis High School invites the community to a presentation April 30 by motivational speaker Lt. Col. Consuelo Kickbusch.

Born and raised in Laredo, Kickbusch graduate from Hardin Simmons University and then served in the U.S. Army for two decades as a commissioned officer. Kickbusch took advantage of her time in the military and set several records, including becoming the highest-ranking Hispanic woman in the Combat Support Field of the U.S. Army.
