Board of Trustees Recognize National Board Certified Teachers

The Austin ISD Board of Trustees recognized teachers on their National Board certifications during the April 27 regular board meeting.

Twenty-one teachers are newly certified, and one teacher renewed certification.

National Board Certification is a voluntary certification that aims to improve the quality of teaching and learning. To receive the certification, teachers must complete a written assessment of content knowledge, reflect on student work samples, analyze teaching practices and document their accomplishments as a professional.

This week, Crockett High School, Covington and Bedichek middle schools, Cunningham Elementary School and Bazaarvoice Foundation will announce a partnership. The program develops and implements an entrepreneur program that begins in kindergarten and continues through high school.

22 AISD Teachers Earn National Board Certification

Tonight, the Austin ISD Board of Trustees recognized 22 newly certified or renewed teachers who have completed the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.

MEDIA ADVISORY: Informational Session on the New South Early College High School Program at Travis

Beginning next school year, an early college high school program located at William B. Travis High School will allow students to take college courses for credit.

This program will allow students to earn 60 hours of college credit for free with the potential to earn an associate’s degree.

Who: Parents and their students from across the district are invited to learn about the Early College High School program.
