AISD Board of Trustees Hosts Special Meeting on May 17

The Austin ISD Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting beginning at 10 a.m. May 17 in the Carruth Administration Center, Board Auditorium, Room B100. The board has invited two executive search/recruitment services firms to make a presentation and answer questions related to the search for a new superintendent.

Proposals were received by the board from four executive search firms on May 7.

After scoring the proposals and discussion during the Board Work Session on May 12, the board decided to ask the two highest-ranked firms to meet during the special meeting.

2014 Curriculum Writers Cadre

The Curriculum Writers Cadre is an incredible opportunity for Austin ISD to rally around what matters most—the students of the district.

At the CWC, master teachers and content specialists will design and write curriculum, exemplar lessons and assessments with a focus on students developing literacy and biliteracy, evaluating their own learning, constructing meaning, and applying their learning authentically.

AISD’s Holds Community Conversation About 2014-15 Preliminary Budget Thursday

AUSTIN, Texas—AISD invites families and staff and community members to learn more about AISD's 2014-15 preliminary budget and the district’s strategic investment in priorities, projected shortfalls and long-range financial planning.

What:  Nicole Conley, chief financial officer, and the district’s budget team will provide information about AISD’s preliminary budget and will be available to answer questions about the district’s finances.

When: Noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 15.

AISD Monitors Weather Overnight

AUSTIN, Texas—AISD continues to monitor the weather with the City of Austin and area school districts as heavy rains are expected during the morning commute tomorrow.

At this time, the district does not anticipate the weather will affect operations Tuesday. The district plans for all schools and offices to operate as scheduled.

The Eagle Talk Show First Anniversary Celebration

The Eagle Talk Show Celebrates its first anniversary on Friday, May 23. A reception sponsored by Sendero Health Plan will be from 5:45-6:15 p.m., with a special live taping of the show from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

The event takes place at Wanut Creek Early College Prep Academy, 401 W. Braker Lane. Free tickets may be reserved now by calling (512) 841-4600.

Because this is a live taping, no children younger than 9 years old are not allowed. Child care is available for children 5–9 years old. Space is limited.

Community Budget Meeting

Austin ISD welcomes the community to a meeting this week to learn about the 2014–15 preliminary budget, strategic investment in the district's priorities, projected shortfalls and long-range financial planning. Lunch and interpretation services will be provided.
