Media Advisory: Lanier High School Celebrates Opening of Community Garden

AUSTIN, Texas—Lanier High School, along with its community, neighbors and sponsors will officially unveil the Lanier Community Garden with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Who: City and county representatives, rotary members from the Monterrey Obispado Mexico and Northwest Austin Rotary Clubs, Austin ISD administrators and school board representative, Lanier staff, students, community and members of the Mexican Consulate and Multicultural Refugee Coalition.

Statement: AISD Thanks Carstarphen for Leadership, Expects to Name Interim Superintendent at Special Board Meeting Tuesday

AUSTIN, Texas—The Austin Independent School District released the following statement from Vincent Torres, president of the Board of Trustees, about Superintendent Meria Carstarphen being named as the new superintendent of Atlanta Public Schools:

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I would like to congratulate Superintendent Meria Carstarphen and wish her the very best as she leaves Austin to lead Atlanta Public Schools and begin a new chapter.

April 14 Update on Superintendent from AISD Board President

On April 14, Vincent Torres, president of the AISD Board of Trustees, provided the following update to AISD employees, families and the community:

Earlier today, Dr. Meria Carstarphen informed me that she had formally accepted the position of superintendent of the Atlanta Public Schools. On behalf of the entire board, I want to congratulate Dr. Cartstarphen and thank her for her five years of service to our district. We wish her the very best as she leaves the district for this new chapter in her life.
