League of Women Voters District 6 & 7 Meeting

What: Almost half the schools in AISD Districts 6 and 7 are over-enrolled. How does this impact learning and student life? What factors have created this condition?

In 2013, voters in these districts rejected (at a higher rate than in the rest of the city) bonds that would have alleviated this overcrowding. What factors might account for this voting pattern?

 

Parents, students, teachers, AISD trustees, business leaders, faith leaders and others who want to provide input about choosing the public schools.

Media Advisory: AISD Partners with SXSWedu Next Week; District Closed for Spring Break

AUSTIN, Texas—The Austin Independent School District is a partner for SXSWedu and the district's students, parents and employees will be participating in the education conference Monday, March 3, through Thursday, March 6.

The following week, AISD will be closed for Spring Break, Monday, March 10, through Friday, March 14.

All AISD offices and schools will be closed during this period. The district will resume regular business hours Monday, March 17.

AISD Develops New Resources to Support Campus Advisory Councils

Austin ISD has developed new user-friendly materials to help Principals, CAC co-chairs, and CAC members get the most from our Campus Advisory Councils. Examples of these resources include a calendar of activities, brief narrated training presentations, sample monthly meeting agendas, and flyers to post on campuses.

AISD High School Late Start for Feb. 27 Canceled

The late start scheduled for Austin ISD high schools this Thursday, Feb. 27, has been canceled to make up instructional time lost due to inclement weather.

AISD will have a regular, full instructional day on Thursday, February 27, and classes will be begin at the regular scheduled time. All students who ride the school bus will be picked up at their normal times.
