Media Advisory: Marathon Kids Day Kicks off at Blazier Elementary School

AUSTIN, Texas—Marathon Kids will be holding an assembly at Blazier Elementary to kick off Marathon Kids Day, followed by a Healthy Food Scavenger Hunt with two AISD elementary Marathon Kids at the downtown Whole Foods Market.

When: Wednesday, Feb. 26, 7:30 a.m. Blazier Elementary School assembly; 10 a.m. Marathon Kids Day at Whole Foods Market

Update on Bad Weather Make-up Day

Austin ISD appreciates the cooperation of staff members, students and families during the inclement weather days earlier this year, which caused district-wide cancelations and late-starts at AISD schools and district offices. 

When school is closed because of bad weather, the state requires school districts to make up only the first two days that school was canceled. AISD campuses and district offices completed one make-up day on Feb. 17 and another make-up day was scheduled for June 6. 

Austin and Eastside Memorial High Schools Host Financial Aid Workshops Tomorrow

AUSTIN, Texas—Tomorrow, the Austin Chamber and Austin ISD will be hosting two Financial Aid Saturdays workshops, which offer students and their families help as they apply for college financial aid, grants and scholarships.

What: Financial aid specialists will offer one-on-one assistance to seniors and their parents as they complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, also known as FAFSA. Students also may receive help to apply for college grants and scholarships.

When: 8:30 a.m. – noon Saturday, Feb. 22.

AISD Celebrates African-American Heritage Sunday

This weekend, Austin ISD will be honoring the heritage of African-Americans and their legacies, which can be seen throughout the school district. The district also will honor students for academic success and community members for their leadership and service.

AISD will hold its 31st Annual African-American Heritage Celebration at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, at the Palmer Events Center, 900 Barton Springs Road.
