League of Women Voters District 6 & 7 Meeting

Date
Saturday, March 29, 2014 - 9:30 am to 12:00 pm

What: Almost half the schools in AISD Districts 6 and 7 are over-enrolled. How does this impact learning and student life? What factors have created this condition?

In 2013, voters in these districts rejected (at a higher rate than in the rest of the city) bonds that would have alleviated this overcrowding. What factors might account for this voting pattern?

Parents, students, teachers, AISD trustees, business leaders, faith leaders and others who want to provide input about choosing the public schools.

Participants will socialize over coffee and breakfast tacos. After a short greeting we’ll divide into groups of 8 people. The conversation will be facilitated so that people’s best thinking comes forth.

Comments will be compiled and recommendations made to participants, community, and AISD Board of Trustees.

Where:

Travis High School, Institute of Hospitality and Culinary Arts,
11211 E. Oltorf
