Austin ISD invites prospective students and their families to a school choice fair to introduce them to unique opportunities available through the Fulmore and Kealing magnet programs, the Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders, the Fine Arts Academy at Lamar Middle School, Small Green Tech STEM Academy and the new School for Young Men and School for Young Women (Garcia and Pearce middle schools) in District One.

AISD's Jeanie Tuttle Stars as Mother Ginger Tomorrow

AUSTIN, Texas—Jeanie Tuttle, a librarian at Clayton Elementary School, will star as Mother Ginger in Ballet Austin’s opening night performance of “The Nutcracker” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec 7, at the Long Center for the Performing Arts, 701 W. Riverside Drive.

Tuttle received more than 3,300 votes during the three-week voting period for Austin’s Mother Ginger contest.

AISD Cancels Out-of-district Events Dec. 6-7; In-district, Outdoor Activities also Cancelled Due to Weather

AUSTIN, Texas—All out-of-district indoor and outdoor activities and events have been canceled for today, Dec. 6, and tomorrow, Dec. 7, due to inclement weather.

Additionally, outdoor activities and events happening in-district also have been canceled for today and tomorrow.

All out-of-district indoor and outdoor activities and events have been canceled for Friday, Dec. 6 due to inclement weather. Additionally, outdoor activities and events happening in-district have also been canceled for Friday.

All in-door in-district activities, however, will continue as scheduled. Families and staff members should continue to use caution when traveling to and from these indoor, in-district events, or stay home if you feel traveling poses a risk.

AISD Holds Third Allan Facility Community Meeting

AUSTIN, Texas—Austin ISD and Austin Voices for Education and Youth hosts the last of three community meetings about the future use of the Allan facility.

The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11 at Ortega Elementary School.

AISD planned three community meetings throughout the semester to gather input about possible uses of the vacant, former Allan Elementary School facility, located at 4900 Gonzales St.

Friday Morning: AISD Operates on Two-hour Delay

Due to weather and road conditions, AISD will delay the start time for classes, buses and offices by two hours this morning, Friday, Dec. 6.

AISD asks parents to please add extra time to their commutes and to expect road closures and traffic delays. The district also reminds Austin drivers to stop for AISD school buses whose lights flashing.

AISD will excuse tardies due to weather and traffic delays. If you have questions, please contact your school directly.
